The ICS development programme links algae cultivation with separation, extraction and downstream ingredients. Its integrated approach examines shared utilities and suitable connections between food, material and energy uses while retaining the quality requirements of each production stream.
Cultivation and bioprocessing develop ingredients from algae and other biological resources. Species, production systems and extraction routes are selected around product quality, practical yields and efficient use of water, nutrients and energy.
ICS energy planning links suitable renewable generation and battery storage with cultivation, separation and downstream processing. The design follows changing production loads, water and heat requirements over time.
